Day-by-Day Itinerary

Arrival Day – Welcome to Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guides, do an equipment check, and enjoy a full briefing before the adventure begins.

Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi
Meals: Breakfast included

Day 1 – Londorossi Gate → Mti Mkubwa Camp

Your adventure begins on Kilimanjaro’s western side. Hike through lush rainforest surrounded by giant trees, tropical vegetation, and wildlife. Keep an eye out for colobus monkeys and colorful birds as you slowly begin acclimatizing.

Distance: 6 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs
Habitat: Rainforest

Day 2 – Mti Mkubwa Camp → Shira 1 Camp

Leave the rainforest behind as the landscape transforms into moorland. Wide-open views, volcanic terrain, giant lobelias, and Kilimanjaro's impressive scenery begin to unfold.

Distance: 8 km
Hiking Time: 5–6 hrs
Habitat: Moorland

Day 3 – Shira 1 Camp → Shira 2 Camp

A shorter hiking day focused on acclimatization. Cross the beautiful Shira Plateau while enjoying panoramic views of Kibo Peak and Mount Meru.

The slower pace gives your body extra time to adapt to altitude — one of the reasons Lemosho has such a strong summit success rate.

Distance: 7 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs
Habitat: Moorland

Day 4 – Shira 2 Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp

One of the most important acclimatization days. Hike toward Lava Tower (4,630m) before descending into Barranco Valley.

Experience Kilimanjaro’s famous “climb high, sleep low” strategy while hiking through dramatic alpine desert landscapes.

Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 6–7 hrs
Habitat: Semi-desert

Day 5 – Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp

Start the day climbing the famous Barranco Wall — one of the highlights of the entire route.

After incredible panoramic views, continue through rolling valleys toward Karanga Camp while continuing to acclimatize.

Distance: 5 km
Hiking Time: 4–5 hrs
Habitat: Alpine Desert

Day 6 – Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

Today brings you to Barafu Camp — your final base camp before summit night.

Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, preparing gear, and mentally preparing for the biggest challenge of the trip.

Distance: 4 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs
Habitat: Alpine Desert

Day 7 – Summit Day: Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Mweka Camp

Around midnight, begin your summit push beneath a sky full of stars.

Reach Stella Point before making the final climb toward Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa (5,895m).

Watch sunrise above the clouds, celebrate your achievement, and take in one of the most unforgettable moments of your life.

After celebrating at the summit, descend back down toward Mweka Camp.

Distance: 17 km
Hiking Time: 10–14 hrs
Habitat: Arctic Summit Zone & Rainforest

Day 8 – Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi

Your final hiking day takes you back through beautiful rainforest trails toward Mweka Gate.

Receive your official Kilimanjaro summit certificate before transferring back to Moshi for hot showers, celebration, and well-earned rest.

Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs
Habitat: Rainforest

Unmissable experience, highly recommend!

Absolutely so we’ll organised by ToB, really couldn’t have been better. The surf house we stayed in was some of the best accommodation I’ve seen at any hostel and staff so friendly. Made an excellent group of new friends who I am now meeting again in Amsterdam in December :)

Fun times in Morocco

I had a great time with Thuy and friends in Morocco. She was very friendly and accommodating to everyone. I had to work remotely while on the trip and Thuy was very flexible while also make sure to include me on all the fun activities. Overall, glad I took this trip and made some lifelong friends for future traveling.
